In April 2021, I had a concussion that quietly disrupted my life for the next year. It wasn’t dramatic, no loss of consciousness, no visible damage, but a hit to the head threw my life off course in ways I never expected.

It was a year of invisible pain. I silently struggled with relentless aches, chronic fatigue, migraines, anxiety, and a fog that made even simple tasks overwhelming. Some days, I was bedridden. Others, I could get out, but I couldn’t handle noise or crowds. I looked fine, but I was struggling. The hardest part was no one could understand it.

I started journaling and sketching ideas. I had stopped drinking due to its negative effects on brain function and began wondering why people still reach for alcohol despite its risks. I realised alcohol often serves as a social lubricant, but the non- alcoholic alternatives didn’t focus on true connection. I envisioned a drink that would naturally enhance wellbeing, promote confidence, and help us connect naturally. That was the spark of Monty.

After I recovered, I went travelling, immersing myself in nature and meeting incredible people. I slowed down, I healed. Monty bubbled away in my thoughts.

As I returned to the UK and began finding my rhythm again, I started putting things into motion to bring Monty to life. Then, in April 2024, I hit my head again. I was scared. But this time, my recovery was different. I had the mindset to slow down, but I had also discovered functional mushrooms, natural allies for the brain and body.
